"I just wanted to thank the Atlantic Paramedic Academy for everything I was taught over the course of the year last year. I sometimes go into a scene and remember things that I haven't thought of since school and it amazes me how things just come back so quickly. I guess it was because of the great instructors and program we had.
I had a particular day that was a very bad day. I just wanted to thank everyone for training me for a situation like that. I have received a couple calls from some top people saying that I went above and beyond what I was required to do and that I was very well trained."
On behalf of the PACU at the DECH we would like to pass on to you what a great group of paramedics that did a rotation in our unit. They all demonstrated a professional attitude and interest. Here’s to a great group!!!!!
This was one of the greatess experience of my life. It was the biggest challenge ever for me . To learn about my new career and a new
language at the same time. I have to admit it wasn't easy . I had to study like never did before, but I am proud of myself now and its all thanks to APA for helping me and beleiving in me.
I know this was the best thing I could have accomplished, I like my job its
been 3 years already and I dont regreat a single day.
Thank you all for your patience and helping me to have a wonderfull career.
It is hard to image that it has almost been a year since my graduation from the APA. The past few weeks have been seeing the students around the Moncton Hospital doing their clinical rotation and now their truck perceptorship. It reminds me of my time at the school and the way it has changed the course of my life. I am so appreciative of the time that I spent at the Academy and the skills that I had the opportunity to integrate into my life. I must admit that the course was more intense than I anticipated, but well worth the effort. The more difficult the course load became, the more the instructors made themselves available to make sure that we were fully understanding the concepts. I remember time-and-time again them taking extra class time to go over things 'one more time' to make sure that everyone was on board. They also allowed us to pick their brain during breaks and other downtimes, as to what it was really like to be a practicing medic or what they thought the Province might do when they took over ambulance services.
I found, as an older, not necessarily more mature, student that some of the enthusiasm of the younger students would rub off and added excitement to the course, but I also found that, in some more difficult situations (mid-terms, exam days etc) some of the older folks would then be looked to for some steadiness and lessons on how to handle this kind of pressure. Over-all it was an amazing year in so many ways.
I began working here in Moncton last September and have recently become the Paramedic Supervisor for the Moncton Ambulance Service. This is something that I find hard to grasp, so early in my career, yet a position that I have accepted and will do my best to fulfill. I am extremely grateful for the foundation that the Academy has laid for these things to come about in my life and I'm looking forward to a long productive career in the EMS field as a result of my training.
Thanks for everything!!
When you first come to APA as a PCP student, I think that most enter the course thinking it's a fancy first aid course. Then the first day of Anatomy and Physiology comes along and you realize how wrong you were! The PCP
course from APA was the toughest course that I ever took and the most rewarding ongoing experience of my life. The daily challenges that we face in this field and the skills that we use can all be traced back to the school. You really learn to appreciate the level of skills learned and the
caliber of teaching you received when you graduate and enter the workforce.
You can then really understand why you went over and over again something that you thought wasn't pertinent to what you were doing.
My year at APA was wonderful, stressful, supportive and heartbreaking all
wrapped into one very long 10 months. I've only been working now for just under a year, but I know that I would do the course all over again if I had to, to be where I am today. I can't thank the staff at APA enough for the career they have allowed me to have. One piece of advice that I would like to pass along to new APA-PCP students is to believe in yourself, stay
confident and don't give up. You won't regret it.
I wanted to take a moment to thank the administration of the APA for the most rewarding experience I have ever had. I also have to admit that it was the hardest thing I have ever done. As you know, the paramedic program is extremely intense and there were moments when I didn't think I was capable of suceeding, but with a lot of hard work and determination, the results were well worth the effort I put forth. With the theory and clinical portion now completed, everything is coming together and it is very exciting to be able to put my training to use in a real life setting with my preceptor there to guide me.
I want to say an extra special thank to the theory and lab instructors. Their enthusiasm and knowledge made what seemed impossible to learn, possible. Just when I felt ready to give up, they were there cheering and encouraging me to go the extra mile. They were always willing to answer my endless questions and explain new concepts in as many ways as it took to make me undestand.
I know without a doubt this is the right career for me and I am so excited to see what the future holds . Thank you for all you and your staff have helped me to acheive. I would definately reconmend the APA to anyone who is seriously interested in a career in paramedicine. It is my hope once I obtain enough experience to return to the APA for the next level for the advanced care paramedic program and to eventually teach at the APA.
Thank you once again.
I remember the commitment and personal and family sacrifice that a mature student made to complete your course. Now he is an advanced care paramedic loving his job, a positive role model to new students and a pleasure to work with.
Your students are self disciplined and committed to taking responsibility for their own learning and actions. Congratulations on an excellent program that ensures we will have a Paramedic workforce committed to excellence.
The Atlantic Paramedic Academy has been a great experience for me. Thanks to all the great instructors that helped make this experience easier. We had the opportunity to go on a Best Practice Trip to Jersey City which was a great learning experience. I would recommend the Academy to anybody who is interested in becoming a Paramedic. The APA has afforded me the opportunity to reach personal goals and has given me the incentive to continue to gain knowledge. The course is demanding physically, mentally and emotionally, but so is paramedicine. The wisdom and the experiences of instructors has helped immensely. I highly recommend this course to those who truly want to experience a real challenge, and the absolute satisfaction that comes with it's completion.
